Secession Art & Design Blog

Secession Art & Design opened our Bernal Heights location in August of 2007, and has since grown to represent over 50 independent artists and designers. Our retail location is a gallery, boutique, and workspace combined, creating an untraditional storefront that allows customers to experience curated shows by owner, Eden Stein, and see the process of art being made in-house by Heather Robinson.

Last day to shop our Spring Pop-Up, 11am-6pm

Today is the final day of our Spring Art Pop-up at 307 Cortland. Have brunch in Bernal, hike up to the hill and stop by the gallery to see our art collection. Our doors will be open 11am-6pm. I look forward to seeing you and telling you stories about our artists and their work. What rooms in your home need a pop of art?

Many of our artists paint from personal experience and push themselves to experiment. Today's featured artists are David Imlay and Rachel Znerold. David's oil paintings depict moments in time. He paints urban life onto unique backgrounds of newspapers and textured paper. Rachel's newest series is from her time spent in the snowy mountains with her family in their A-frame cabin. These sunlit snowscapes have embroidered details on the canvas, giving so much depth and a personal touch to each piece.

Thank you for stopping by today to see these paintings in person.

See you soon, Eden

All art is available in our virtual gallery. At checkout, choose the "pick-up at the popup" option or free local art delivery for purchases over $500.
