Secession Art & Design Blog

Secession Art & Design opened our Bernal Heights location in August of 2007, and has since grown to represent over 50 independent artists and designers. Our retail location is a gallery, boutique, and workspace combined, creating an untraditional storefront that allows customers to experience curated shows by owner, Eden Stein, and see the process of art being made in-house by Heather Robinson.

Abstract art at our pop-up!

SF Pop-up this week, May 4-7 at 307 Cortland

Secession Art & Design's pop-up opens on Thursday! I am excited to welcome you May 4-7 to 307 Cortland to see our spring art collection. I am always fascinated with abstract art and all the tools and mediums that give it texture. Two San Francisco artists caught my attention for this show.

Heather Robinson's paintings are a feast for the eye with color, pattern, and texture. Like a decorative cake, she carefully layers each piece, starting with fabric and building on that foundation with paint and stencils. Robert Perkins's graffiti-like oil paintings tell an entire story through shape and brushstroke. I can picture his jewel-toned art above the dining table, inviting conversation as you entertain guests. What memorable experiences will these paintings inspire in your home?

See you soon, Eden

PS: Join us at our Art Party on May 5, 6-8pm to mix and mingle with all the artists in our show.  All art is available on our virtual gallery - select "pickup at the pop-up", local free art delivery, or shipping within the US.
