Secession Art & Design Blog

Secession Art & Design opened our Bernal Heights location in August of 2007, and has since grown to represent over 50 independent artists and designers. Our retail location is a gallery, boutique, and workspace combined, creating an untraditional storefront that allows customers to experience curated shows by owner, Eden Stein, and see the process of art being made in-house by Heather Robinson.

Shannon Amidon Art & Book Release Pre-order

Secession Art & Design is honored to collaborate with Shannon Amidon at our SF Spring Art Pop-Up on April 25-28 at 307 Cortland. Shannon's encaustic botanical and nature-inspired paintings are a fresh breath of spring. Help us celebrate the release of her 3rd art book Literary Garden - Blooms Amidst Forgotten Words. All her art and the book are available for pre-order before the event!

In this series, Shannon merges her love of books and nature. Using rescued books that have weathered over a century of existence as her canvas, she infused each cover with miniature encaustic paintings, inspired by the untamed beauty of North American wildflowers.

All of the paintings have been brought together to create a beautiful 8.5" x 8.5", full-color, 69-page, softbound art book.

Save the date: Shannon will be flying down from Portland, OR for a book release and meet and greet on Saturday, April 27th, 12-3pm. A not-to-be-missed experience to meet the artist!

Happy Collecting, Eden
