Geoffrey Campen	Nate 1
Geoffrey Campen is an artist and architectural designer living and working in San Francisco. The work explores the parallels and contrasts between craft in his architectural work and the process of creating art. The contrasts range from the waste and chaos in demolition of a building vs. the creativity and hope in new design; and the use of physical elements in nature to create the skeleton/skin of a building vs. the intent to design and live harmoniously within nature. Resulting imagery is generated with the hand drafting and lettering taught in architecture school and salvaged or unused materials from his construction sites.	Nate 1's latest series uses graffiti techniques to capture the street scenes, traffic and transportation of San Francisco. Nate started painting graffiti in 1987, and now in 2012 combines acrylic, spray paint, and stencils. He challenges himself on each work to maintain spray can skills and illustrate his thoughts through characters, scenes of the city and letters.
