Secession Art & Design Blog

Secession Art & Design opened our Bernal Heights location in August of 2007, and has since grown to represent over 50 independent artists and designers. Our retail location is a gallery, boutique, and workspace combined, creating an untraditional storefront that allows customers to experience curated shows by owner, Eden Stein, and see the process of art being made in-house by Heather Robinson.

Celebrate our new lease by shopping!

Secession Art & Design's doors are open Thursday-Sunday 12-5pm, letting in the spring breeze and welcoming you back to our gallery and boutique. With over 70 artists and designers to choose from, you will find the perfect gift, art for your home, or outfit to lift your spirits as you start to go out into the world a little more. Our current collection of art and clothing is inspired by color and pattern. I just signed a new lease at the gallery, so come help us celebrate our future this weekend by shopping from our community of makers.

Eden gets interviewed by Shoutout LA

Secession Art & Design is my other baby. Owning and curating is my art. This has been my year to get nationally recognized by so many publications. I love that people all across the country have taken the time to mail me my article in print. I recently got a letter from Chicago. Seeing the photo of my son and me in the Chicago Tribune made my heart sing.

New art show, new open hours, and a virtual happy hour!

The gallery is now open Thursday-Sunday 12-5 PM

Secession Art & Design's spring show Rejuvenation is a breath of fresh air, featuring artists Lynn Rubenzer, Mark Lifvendahl, and Uma Rani Iyli. As the days get longer and life just seems more hopeful, the colors and textures of this collection tempt your senses. Paint that looks like fabric, splatters that resemble flowers, and whimsical houses that seem familiar but abstract. A playful show that will make any home feel the rebirth as we change seasons and wake from a long hibernation during the pandemic.

Please join us for a virtual opening via Zoom this Friday April 2, 6-7pm to meet the artists, see their studios and learn about their process. Click https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81545467132?pwd=SHZwaEdYMnhBd2tNdXFoSGo0bjV2Zz09to join.
