Secession Art & Design Blog

Secession Art & Design opened our Bernal Heights location in August of 2007, and has since grown to represent over 50 independent artists and designers. Our retail location is a gallery, boutique, and workspace combined, creating an untraditional storefront that allows customers to experience curated shows by owner, Eden Stein, and see the process of art being made in-house by Heather Robinson.

Underground - art by Eddie Colla, Jeremy Novy and Scott Fin

Secession Art & Design's Summer show, Underground, features Eddie Colla, Jeremy Novy, and Scott Fin, three artists that use the urban landscape as their canvas. Over the past year, I have been following both Eddie and Jeremy on social media, watching them travel and create street art that inspires conversation. From koi fish that magically appeared on the sidewalk in front of Ichi Sushi in Mission Bernal to art going up in Mexico and Paris, I found myself so in awe at how, in these different environments, people are living with and reacting to art in the public space. Scott's photography takes us on a journey through tunnels with graffiti artists painting with light or above the city in a small plane, then printing these images onto street signs. All three artists produced an amazing show that brings art from the outside in and allows you to own a piece of street history.

Please join us to see on Friday, June 8, 6-9pm for the opening to meet the artists.
