Silvi Alcivar's work, rooted in creating typewritten poems on demand, is interested in what happens when obstruction and objective meet. In this series, titled "Sometimes We Must Swarm," the usual obstructions remain: the paper must fit into a typewriter and the poem must emerge spontaneously, in three minutes or less, inspired by the image that accompanies it. Using multiple layers of repeated words, sounds, and natural images, Silvi presents a world teeming with poems, whose message and meaning are for you to hold in your hands.

Sonya Philip's work is born of patience. There is a simple intricacy in each stitch and an incremental care in making things by hand. Sonya loves to see how far she can push her craft or what unlikely material she can use. She is accustomed to the interplay and at home in the places where art and craft intersect.
