| Eco-Forward Spring Show at Secession Art & Design Show: March 31-May 30, 2009 | Opening Reception: April 17, 6:30-9:30PM Mission/Bernal Heights' gallery boutique announces a show with art, fashion and design inspired by nature, architecture and urban salvage San Francisco, Calif. (March 31, 2009) - Secession Art & Design invites you to celebrate eco-conscious art and fashion with a spring showing of new work from talented Bay Area artists and designers. Continuing the gallery boutique's ongoing exploration of fashion and design from independent, street, vintage, eco-friendly and craft vantage points, the event promises a diverse collection of forward-looking fine art, home wares, apparel and jewelry inspired by nature, architecture and reclaimed materials from the world-at-large. "Along with art and design inspired by nature and the natural world, many artists in this show embrace and repurpose vintage or cast-off materials, and that's another way of thinking about a more eco-friendly future. Eco-vintage is about reclaiming and reusing materials to make your home a place that is sustainable and also uniquely you," says owner-curator and designer Eden Stein. Fresh for the show, featured artists Peter Andrea and Ivy Jacobsen display new work with organic underpinnings. Andrea's multi-dimensional compositions incorporate reclaimed wood, found objects and hand carvings into mixed media displays, while Jacobsen's layered mixed media paintings play with notions of time and space in the natural world. The ever-popular Secession boutique puts forth wearable art and unique objects for the home. Highlights include recycled vintage glass and pottery in sterling silver jewelry by Amy Faust, hanging sculptures made from sustainable materials by Adrift Mobiles, Sidecar Furniture vases made from salvaged Berkeley stadium seats, vintage-inspired hats by Behida Dolic, jewelry by Kathleen Maley and apparel from Ava Love, gr.dano, Medium Reality and Taxi CDC. Along with the featured artists and designers, the gallery boutique houses current collections from Secession Art & Design in-house designers Colleen Mauer, Heather Robinson, New Skool and Twelve Designs: Modern Vintage Jewelry. A portion of the proceeds from the show benefits Streetside Stories (www.streetside.org).
